5 bad foods that can harm your child's dental health

5 schlechte Lebensmittel, die die Zahngesundheit deines Kindes beeinträchtigen können

We already announced it last week: In today's blog post, we're taking a closer look at 5 foods that are bad for children's teeth. Try to eliminate as many of them as possible from your diet or replace them with foods that promote your child's dental health. So which foods are bad for your children's health?

1. Hard candies and toffees

Sweets damage your children's teeth and that's not all, eating sweets is also bad for your teeth. Sweets contain an incredible amount of sugar and can even get stuck in tooth cavities or small gaps.

Also avoid foods that contain artificial sweeteners, as they can also have harmful effects on your teeth.

2. Pickles and gherkins

Pickles and gherkins can be very tasty when combined with your favorite food. However, spicy gherkins are anything but good for your teeth. Pickles in particular are pickled in vinegar. The acetic acid can attack your mucous membranes and your teeth. If you brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with water after eating a pickle, you can enjoy them in moderation.

3. Carbonated drinks

Carbonated drinks are particularly popular with children. However, carbonated drinks are not so good for teeth. They contain acid that can attack your child's sensitive tooth enamel. In addition to carbonation, many soft drinks and lemonades also contain far too much sugar.

4. Processed dried fruits

Dried fruit may be healthy for your body, but it is considered bad for your teeth. This is mainly because many manufacturers add huge amounts of sugar. This not only makes the fruit particularly sweet, but also makes it last longer. If you want to eat dried fruit with your children, make sure that no sugar has been added.

5. Replace canned fruit with fresh fruit

Canned fruit is bad for your teeth. Eating too much fruit can cause problems with your teeth. This canned fruit is delicious but unhealthy. It has been proven that canned fruit can be bad for your teeth. Studies have shown that most of these canned foods contain so much sugar that it can damage your teeth. Canned fruit is often enriched with sugar syrup.

Instead of canned fruit, we recommend:

  • Nuts, eggs and carrots
  • carrots
  • Dairy products such as milk, yoghurt and cheese
  • Owner
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Fresh apples, melons, pears and strawberries

To compensate for any malnutrition, we recommend that you and your whole family have their teeth cleaned with our emmi®-dent ultrasonic toothbrush.
